Recap

There was a late change to the starting lineup as Adam Lincoln stepped in for the injured Ryan Catterick, and due to an injury to James Risbrough, new signing Jake Hackett made his debut at left-back.

Despite these changes Bishops’ started the game well and Marcus Giles thumped in the opener after 14 minutes when he made room for himself and found space between Lister and the left-hand side post.

The ‘Lang Jacks’ began to get a foothold in the game and a weak goal kick by Lincoln found a home attacker but the young keeper got his hand to the effort to deflect the ball out for a corner.

Bishops grabbed a crucial second goal on the stroke of halftime when Johnson burst through the middle and unleashed a superb shot which gave Lister no chance.  The only negative for Bishops in the first period was the withdrawal of Mohammed due to injury which allowed Bulmer to make his third appearance of the season.

The all-action running of Johnson contributed to a second half in which Bishops made it difficult for Whickham to find any fluency in their quest to get back into the game.  It was Johnson who almost found a third goal midway through the second half when his flicked backheel was scrambled off the line.

With just four minutes remaining Henderson directed a header from a corner towards goal and the ball took at least one deflection before trickling into the net to well and truly finish the contest.  There was time for Whickham to grab a consolation goal when Bisset fired in a low free-kick which was just out of the reach of a diving Lincoln.

This was a good away performance by Bishops on a tricky surface which extends the lead at the top of the table to eight points.
