Recap

Kickoff was greeted with heavy rain and the Bishops were straight on the attack against a patched-up RCA side, Giles created an opening within 30 seconds, but his effort was blocked by a defender.

Cameron Fenton almost gave the RCA a shock fourth-minute lead as he tried his luck from distance but Catterick tipped the ball around the post and out for a corner.

In the space of two minutes Bishops’ dominance of possession and territory reaped its rewards.  Hopson released Patton with a superb pass for the attacking midfielder to round the keeper and slot home.  Johnson then found a sight of goal and his powerful shot from 20 yards had too much on it for Wilkinson who could only help it into the net.

Gott struck the RCA post with a curling effort five minutes before the interval and to their credit, the visitors defended well enough to limit the damage to only two goals as the referee gave everyone a chance to dry off.

RCA survived a helter-skelter start to the second half as Gott chipped the ball toward goal from a tight angle on the right of the box and as the post came to the rescue a good sliding tackle block prevented the rebound from being tapped home.

RCA very briefly gave themselves hope with a goal out of nothing when Bruton was allowed to slalom past a couple of defenders before passing the ball into the net.  However, this sparked Bishops into an immediate response and after great work from Giles down the left his cross was diverted into his own goal by Trewick.

Just after the hour mark another measured pass from Hopson found Gott in space and the midfielder picked his spot to fire past Wilkinson from inside the box.  Six minutes later, Johnson was the recipient of another pass to disect the RCA defence and he drove a low shot under Wilkinson.  Bishops had plenty of opportunities to score further goals in the last 20 minutes with Weirs striking the face of the bar and Johnson clearly being tripped in the box but the referee waved away any appeals.
