Over the last few seasons Bishop Auckland Football Club (BAFC) has slowly introduced youth teams into the Club structure/environment, initially with the under 18’s and more recently with an Under 23 Reserve side. Whilst there have been challenges, these youth and reserve team introductions have been part of the Club’s long term objective to define a ‘two blues pathway’ from junior to senior football.

Bishop Auckland Football Club are therefore delighted to announce that for the 2021-22 season the newly affiliated BAFC Under 18’s (U18) team will be playing in the premier national knockout competition for that age group – the prestigious FA Youth Cup.

Since joining the BAFC Board of Directors, Catherine Pearson has had a singular vision to introduce the all important pathway noted above, and with the support of her fellow Directors, is thrilled that the Club have now taken the formal step of U18 affiliation and and entry into the FA Youth Cup. The team will be led by ex Bishops’ player Gareth Young.

All home FA Youth Cup games will be played at the Voneus Broadband Stadium, and these matches will not only be important landmarks for the U18 team, but also for everyone involved with the Club.

Next season will also see the Under 23 Reserve side continue, in addition to a newly formed Under 17’s side representing the Club.

In summary a fantastic opportunity for young footballers to progress through the ranks into senior football in Bishop Auckland and it’s yet another reason to look forward to season 2021/22.

Further information regarding fixtures will follow.
