Recap
A lethargic Bishops ended a memorable year on a low note as Newton Aycliffe turned on the style in front of a Moor Lane crowd of 423.
Louis Johnson was injured and Howard unavailable and this set the tone for the home side to dominate from the 20-minute mark once Petitjean added the finishing touch to divert a ball in from the left past Norton.
On the stroke of halftime, Clarkson fired in through a crowd of players after Bishops’ defence failed to get tight enough. Aycliffe also struck the woodwork in a half when the Bishops failed to trouble the home goal at all.
Haase made way for Eratt-Thomspson during the break with a shuffle in formation failing to get Bishops’ back into the game, Petitjean capitalising on hesitation by Norton to beat the keeper with his head to a floated ball into the box.
Numerous chances were created by Aycliffe with the woodwork again saving Bishops’ blushes before Adamson blasted the ball past Norton with eighteen minutes still on the clock. Bishops’ best moment came courtesy of a Bartliff consolation goal on 83 minutes, the midfielder latching on to a loose ball and lobbing the outrushing Pollard.
