Bishops produced an accomplished display to sweep aside a Thornaby side that included no less than five ex-two blues players in their starting line-up.   An excellent start saw Bishops stamp their superiority on the game with Whitfield slicing an early effort wide before opening the scoring on 17 minutes from an inch-perfect Johnson pass.  The diminutive forward controlled the ball before firing across Hunt, giving the Bermudan goalkeeper no chance.

Nick Liversedge was a virtual spectator for the entirety of the first half and his side should have been at least a further couple of goals to the good with Gott going close with a free kick and Hunt producing several solid saves to deny efforts from Giles and Burlace.  Fairley also found the side netting when well placed inside the box.

Bishops began the second half with several attacks which were thwarted by the linesman’s offside flag and on 58 minutes Liversedge finally had a shot to save as Thornaby threatened for the first time in the game.

Weirs struck the post with a curling shot from the edge of the box before a deserved second goal arrived when Giles beat several defenders before powering in a shot which flew high into the net, a superbly taken goal to the delight of the supporters in the ‘tin shed’.

Fairley also found the frame of the goal late on which would have added some well-deserved gloss to the score line but everyone in a two-blue shirt played their part in an 11^th league win of the season.
