Bishop Auckland 3-0 Washington

Article written by Luke Atkinson

The Bishop Auckland Brewing Stadium opened its doors for the first time yesterday to welcome back fans, who had their first taste of live football since before lockdown! The result was a promising performance from Ian Chandler’s men; who put on a great show for the 110 fans in attendance (with a cap of 150 fans for social distancing reasons). The Bishops hit the ground running with a positive offensive display, recently acquired winger: Luke Hogan, opened the scoring with a great left-footed shot from just inside the box into the bottom corner – past the stationary keeper. Half-time came and Bishop remained 1-0 despite a terrific effort from Chris Winn, who struck the post from some distance after catching the goalkeeper off his line.

The second half brought some showers, but that didn’t rain on The Bishops’ parade, with Luke Hogan scoring his second of the game with a fantastic piece of skill on the edge of the box, rounded off by a curling shot into the corner of the goal. Standout performer yesterday, and also recently acquired: Craig Hutchinson got on the score sheet with a header from close range putting The Bishops 3-0 up. An entertaining game for the fans and an overall great performance from Bishop who will be playing their FA Cup and league fixtures very soon.
