The incredible story of women’s football during WW1.
A talk about the heroic and selfless women (“munitionettes”) who played football in the North East during WW1 will be held at the forthcoming Bishop Auckland Heritage Festival.
Teams were formed throughout the region and more than 22,000 people attended the Munitionettes’ Cup at Ayresome Park, Middlesbrough, in 1918.
The illustrated talk will take place at Bishop Auckland Town Hall on Saturday, September 23 @ 10.45am. Entry is free.
Wor Bella premiered in 2022 and will transfer to London and Newcastle Theatre Royal in April 2024.
