Bishop Auckland Football Club (BAFC) are delighted to be awarded with a thank you certificate from the SSAFA – The Armed Forces Charity. The SSAFA (the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association) is a UK charity that provides lifelong support to serving men and women and veterans from the British Armed Forces and their families or dependents. BAFC received the award thanks to the hard work of Mandy, Eden, Chloe and Debbie who, provided excellent bacon/sausage sandwiches to give out to their veterans around the area during the lockdown, along with catering for them at all of their meetings. These women have done BAFC proud and stand for everything the Club aims for with regards to community spirit.

BAFC Chairman, Steve Coulthard, personally met up with Ruth Wright and Mike Donne today, along with a few veterans and had a good and sincere chat with them. This was followed by some great bagpipe playing from Ruth and Arthur Middleton, finishing with a look round our Club shop and function room – which may be a place of use in the future for them.

Overall, this is a fantastic and credited charity, of whom the Queen is Patron, along with Prince Michael of Kent as the President.
