Junior football proved to be the ultimate victors following a successful afternoon of U7s football at Heritage Park.

Local junior sides from Bishop Auckland, Sunderland, Willington, Crook, Brandon and Stockton all got plenty playing time on the Heritage Park field with the majority of teams preparing to kick-off their respective seasons next weekend.

In the cup final it was Deerness Valley who overcame Bishop Auckland St Mary’s Juniors Kings following some exiting group matches whilst in the Plate final it would be Sunderland City Juniors seeing off the challenge of Crook Wolves.

Afterwards a delighted Catherine Pearson, event organiser, said: “I’d like to thank all the teams for taking part today.

“Also, a big thank you to all the volunteers from Bishop Auckland FC who gave their time up and contributing massively to a successful event and, above all, making the day possible.”
