Historic Bishop Auckland FC football ground and team celebrating local football heritage in County Durham.

Dick Longstaff

Article written by Luke Atkinson

Bishop Auckland Football Club are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dick Longstaff aged 83. Dick was a lifelong Bishops’ fan who did play for the Reserves and in fact turned out for the first team in a 1958 pre-season friendly alongside Messrs. O’Connell and Sharratt.

Dick had many sporting interests and was one of the driving forces behind the development of the Durham Amateur Football Trust (DAFT).

We will greatly miss his ever smiling presence on Heritage Park match days. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Dick’s family and friends. RIP Dick.
