‘Play on the Park’ Tournament proves massive success

Over the past two weekends Heritage Park, home of Northern League First Division outfit, Bishop Auckland, has played host to their ‘Play on the Park’ Tournament, something which proved a massive success for all involved.

With boys and girls from the U7s upwards taking part sides from across County Durham ventured to the football ground with the following sides collecting winners trophies, and all taking part going home with medals.

U7 Cup winners – Newton Aycliffe Juniors and Whites in a gesture of great sportsmanship shared the trophy.
U7 Plate winners – BASMJ U7 Aces.
U8 Cup winners – Crook Town Predators.
U8 Plate winners – Newton Aycliffe Youth.
U9 boys Cup winners – Marton FC Blue.
U9 boys Plate winners – Escomb FC.
U9 Girls Cup winners – Bishop Auckland Girls.
U9 Girls Plate winners – Newton Aycliffe Youth.
Teams from BASMJ, Willington, Escomb, Hebburn, North Fenham, Billingham, Newton Aycliffe Youth, Newton Aycliffe Juniors, and Durham United Girls all went home with medals.
Adult Cup winners – BAFC U17 Development Squad.
Adult Plate winners – BASMJ Seniors (Mike Pearson’s team).
A spokesperson for the club said: “Bishop Auckland FC would like to thank all players and supporters who attended and supported the “Play on the Park” tournaments over the last two weekends.
“It was great to see so many young players on the pitch, an experience they won’t forget.

“Thank you too to all volunteers and referees, without their loyal support this would not have been possible.
“Keep an eye out for the same next year.”
