It’s ten from Chan as pre-season takes on a good mix of opponents

Two Blues followers will have a good opportunity to watch Ian Chandler’s men prepare for an assault on the Northern League First Division title, won quite convincingly by Dunston UTS last time around, this pre-season as the club have an announced TEN pre-season friendlies.

Beginning in early July with a trip to Darlington Railway Athletic the club then makes the tip into the Deerness Valley to Esh Winning for number two, the third though is a tasty, first home friendly as we welcome Alun Armstrong’s Darlington side to Heritage Park for a 7pm kick-off on July 15.

Having missed out on a promotion place last season the Quakers are undergoing something of an overhaul at Blackwell Meadows, their manager using pre-season to blood his new signings.

After Darlington we head over County Durham to face Tow Law Town which is then followed by two home games in quick succession, Willington visit on July 18 in what is a fundraiser for our former, and their current, chairman, Richard Tremewan with Middlesbrough sending their U23s to Heritage Park two days later.

A trip to old rivals Crook Town will take place on the night of July 23 before a rare, Saturday afternoon kick-off on Tyneside, the Two Blues heading to West Allotment Celtic; it’s then back to Willington ourselves as we face Chandler’s former club, Durham City at Hall Lane as we hope to have some idea how we’re looking ahead of the new season at this stage.

The final friendly before the 2019/20 season kicks off is at our Heritage Park home as we welcome Sunderland U23s on the night of August 1 before the new season gets under way the weekend after.
