The ‘Fundraiser for Richard’ on Thursday 18 July between hosts Bishop Auckland, and visitors Willington, proved a success with over £1500 raised for the rehabilitation of Two Blues former chairman, and current Willington chairman, Richard Tremewan.
Prior to the game the U7s were afforded the honour of a kick-about on the Heritage Park playing field (image below) before the first team took to the field.
In the main fixture, the Two Blues won 4-1 with Tevan Tyrell opening the scoring just after the half hour to give the hosts an interval lead.
The second half was predominately Bishops with Jamie Tumility, a regular scorer during pre-season, minutes after the restart and Kyle Fryatt made it three from the spot before Vinny Gash pulled one back on the hour; Michael Hoganson smashed home the fourth to ease home side frustrations fifteen minutes from time to seal the win.
But in the end, it was all about Richard Tremewan and he was the ultimate victor and both clubs, and all connected to the sport, wish him all the very best in his recovery.
