All at the Club are deeply shocked and very saddened to hear of the passing of Director Brian Watson after a short illness.
Brian was a well-known, lifelong Bishops’ supporter and had worked as a volunteer for the Club since 2008 when he joined the New Ground Project Team – the group tasked with managing the Club’s move to what is now known as Heritage Park. Brian played an integral role in the project.
In more recent times Brian was the principal driving force in managing the major pitch refurbishment work in the summer of 2016. Brian managed the entire project and his leadership not only succeeded in obtaining the maximum grant from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund, but ensured the Club ended up with a superb playing surface.
Brian liaised with the ground staff to ensure all matters relating to the pitch were efficiently dealt with and worked alongside his elder brother Malcolm who looks after the maintenance and security issues of the Heritage Park Stadium.
Brian was not just a prized volunteer at BAFC; in 2016 he never missed a rehearsal or show at Kynren during its initial, outstanding run. It’s fair to say that Brian was a real giver to the local community.
Our thoughts go out to Brian’s wife Christine, daughters Helen and Lucy, mother Sheila, brother Malcolm and of course the wider family and Brian’s many friends.
Brian will be a huge loss to us all. The Club will pay tribute to Brian by holding a minute’s silence before a home game in the near future.
