Boro U23s welcome Stoke City to Heritage Park

The first of three matches at Heritage Park this weekend takes place on Friday night (kick-off at 7pm) as Middlesbrough U23s look to build on their opening day success in Premier League 2 against Stoke City U23s.

Entertaining Villa last Friday night, Boro left it late to claim the three points when an injury time penalty from Ben Liddle, after Isaiah Jones was fouled, brought a 1-0 win.

The victory continued the form win which Graeme Lee’s U23s produced in pre-season and they’ll look to continue that this week as they host Stoke City, they having drawn their opening match at home to Sunderland U23s.

When these two sides met last, both games finished in draws as Boro gained a 1-1 draw when away in late August, whilst at home, in mid-April, the two sides played out a 2-2 draw.

Reading U23s are the early table-toppers after they inflicted a hefty 6-0 defeat on their visitors, Newcastle United, last week and Manchester United are second following their 5-0 win away to West Bromwich Albion.
