Boro send strong squad to Heritage Park

This afternoon’s pre-season friendly between Bishop Auckland and Middlesbrough U23s sees the Championship side send a strong second string to Heritage Park for the 1pm kick-off.

As first team manager, Jonathon Woodgate, has the main Boro side out in Germany (they play FC Heidenheim a few hours later), Leo Percovich and Graeme Lee will be looking to field a strong side of their own.

Expected inclusions with vast first-team experience are set oppose Ian Chandler’s Two Blues, affording the manager a stern test with Boro “treating both friendlies as first team affairs.”

Woodgate telling the Boro website that: “We’re looking at both games as good workouts for everyone, and it’s another step along the way in terms of our preparation.” (Read their weekend preview HERE)

Bishop Auckland faced a Middlesbrough U23s side last summer, finishing on the end of a resounding 8-0 defeat, the lads will be looking to give a better account of themselves this afternoon.

Kicking off at 1pm; admission is on the gate at £6 adults, £4 concessions, and £2 under 16s; read the original match preview HERE
